  • Role Overview

    Otis is seeking a Safety Systems Engineer to lead a global team dedicated to designing, testing and qualifying elevator safety systems, according to strict Otis product development standards.

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Leads processes and a cross-functional team to develop creative, integrated solution for next-generation elevator safety systems
    • Leads the development and introduction of new processes, methods, engineering standards and tools at a global level for elevator safety subsystems
    • Provides strategic direction for elevator safety subsystem programs, projects and system integration efforts
    • Drives global innovation efforts and converts new ideas into the product development pipeline
    • Leads global safety components product quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives
    • Monitors and analyzes the Intellectual Property landscape for opportunities and risks for safety systems
    • Provides leadership identifying synergies across technology fields and in formulating and executing multi-disciplinary programs and partnerships with external labs and universities for safety subsystems, particularly controlled friction and braking technologies
    • Provides Engineering senior leadership and Global Safety Module owner with technical guidance and risks to developing a long-term strategic plan on research and development of technologies that impact the business

  • Education / Certifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline

  • Basic Qualifications
    • Knowledge of elevator and/or escalator systems and components is strongly desired
    • Strong analytical and strategic-thinking skills
    • Strong organizational skills, including an attention to detail and task-driven planning, as well as project and process management expertise and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships are required
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural work environment and interact with employees at all levels of the organization
