  • Directly supports the layout drafting team and the weekly release-to-manufacturing schedule
  • Elevator Designers (Specialty components) work with schedulers, layout drafters, sales offices, project management teams, Otis engineering, supply management, suppliers and other entities in order to produce accurate and reliable, custom solutions for elevator components
  • Outputs include, but are not limited to 3D models and other graphics, Bills of Materials specifications, and supplier coordination
  • Support quotations, approval drawings, manufacturing NC graphics, manufacturing drawings, and product interface drawings

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Pro Engineer (Creo 2.0) modeling (parts, assemblies and drawings)
  • Exhibit knowledge of AutoCAD and sheet metal design practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have a demonstrated history of on-time project delivery
  • Ability to demonstrate use of continuous improvement tools (Ishakawa, 5 why’s, Kaizan, etc.) to improve processes, and possess a certification in a continuous improvement program
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction
  • Ability to demonstrate a history of working in cross-function teams, respecting individual differences, and welcoming diverse thinking
  • Must exhibit the ability to multi-task and balance projects with deadlines
  • Must communicate a clear understanding of subject matter and offer informed suggestions to improve processes
  • Ability to demonstrate experience working with automated 3D model processes preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the data flow among systems within the Otis operations chain preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate familiarity with “architectural” elevator components (cabs, entrances, operators, car operating panels and hall fixtures) preferred
Education information
  • Associates degree in Mechanical Design Technology plus 3-5 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering plus 2-3 years of related experience
